Hotel Design and Architecture

Traditional architecture meets contemporary design. Unique traditional materials are interwoven in an innovative way to create unusual spatial experiences. Fascinating spaces form the background of surprising living environments and culinary creativity.

Already in the run-up to the first ideas for a resort project at Tizit Beach on the Dawei Peninsula we developed a unique vision regarding design and architecture. Myanmar has great architectonic tradition. Both the Buddhist monastic architecture as well as the rural building tradition still characterize the picture today. Traditionally, wood has been used as well as bamboo for the more rural buildings.

Even today these are the defining materials outside the cities. We developed the first ideas around these materials. A combination of wood, bamboo and contemporary materials such as concrete and glass enables a modern Asian architectural style, but using traditional materials. This led to the use of bamboo as primary material for the exterior and wood for interior design.

A unique boutique hotel for Dawei

Contemporary Architectural design carried out with local materials and craftmanship

A unique and high-quality design concept for accommodation and gastronomy

Contemporary design ideas based on a material and color concept using local materials

A surprising and exceptional gastronomic concept

After taking over the buildings in Dawei, we first analyzed the existing architecture and building structures. The hotel building is a variation of English colonial architecture using traditional forms for the wooden elements (stairs, railings, doors, built-in-furniture et al) as well as bamboo for all roof trims. Although less marked by this style, similar elements as well have been used for the second building as well.

The existing structures encouraged us to use the design language developed for the resort at Tizit Beach as well. Again, bamboo and wood are the primary materials. The result is a modern Asian interior and exterior design with bamboo and wood combined with a sophisticated lighting concept. In particular, the restaurant and the new annexes are characterized by this design ideas. The hotel building, on the other hand, was preserved on the exterior, while the interior design of the rooms is characterized by the same architectural language as the restaurant. And here as well, the concept is supported by an advanced lighting concept.

The overall design idea of architecture, interior and landscape design is therefore a combination of traditional and very stylish elements using a contemporary lighting concept for all buildings and landscape.
